Raised and Painted Techniques


Take the raised look of royal icing to another level by adding shaded color.

Tools:

Fondant cake
Stencil
Royal Icing
Food Colors
Stencil Brush or Airbrush

Instructions:

1. Place the stencil on the top of the cake and spread plain royal icing over the stencil. Lift and let the icing dry thoroughly.

2. Clean the stencil and align over the raised icing pattern. This will shield your cake, allowing the color to go only on areas showing through the stenciled openings. Using an airbrush or stencil brush, paint the stencil pattern with desired colors. Shade by applying more color along edges to deepen the color.
