We are on the cover of the Fall 2009 issue of Do It Yourself magazine. What a way to update a historic pattern! Our German Interlocking Circles, 3608, was painted in white on a fresh, crisp green basecolor to create a modern home office.

Creative Ideas for Halloween:

Halloween Cat

Halloween Cross stitch 		For over 20 years, we had a retail shoppe at Olde Ridge Village in Chadds Ford, PA. Many of you enjoyed visitng the village, getting your "fix" of antiques, knitting and best of all cross stitch at The Strawberry Sampler!
 
The Strawberry Sampler moved right down the road from ORV, in Springwater Plaza.  Cross stitch is still going strong & evolving (just like stenciling).  Their website is www.strawberrysampler.com.  They have a chatty, informative newsletter (www.strawberrysampler.com/email.html)  that comes out about every 10-14 days, several of the girls are blogging & there's a new page of "Favorite Things" (other than cross stitch) - www.strawberrysampler.com/different.html

They are getting ready to celebrate their 30th anniversary this fall, & while there are still lots of old favorite designers like Prairie Schooler & Lizzie Kate, there are always new things coming from fun companies like Primitive Needle & Silver Creek Samplers.  If you haven't stitched in a while there are lots of different things to make it fun, including overdyed fibers & linens (they look variegated). Right now are lots of Halloween items featured.  Another thing that's been popular are "smalls" - stitcher's accessories like scissor fobs, needlebooks & pincushions.  It's not your mothers cross stitch!!

This was our sixth year exhibiting at the annual International Cake Exploration Societé (ices.org). The event was held at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Il. What a great group of talented, sharing people! This has become a family event for us. My mother and I take my kids, Emily and Patrick, and niece, Caroline, to run the booth and man the "till". Emily and Caroline, both "almost 16 and driving", have become so proficient in collecting the $ that they won't let us touch it! Patrick helps me demonstrate, showing that even a 13 year old can decorate beautiful cakes. Next year: San Diego!

Kerry Vincent, show director and co-founder of the annual Oklahoma Sugar Art Show and a frequent judge on the Food Network Challenge television show, is always a delight to see. In her book, Romantic Wedding and Celebration Cakes, she shows many stenciling techniques with exquisite detail and finesse.
