What is Stenciling?

Stenciling is a process of applying paint to cut out areas of a material such as plastic, heavy paper, or metal. It has been a way of repeating a design down through the ages on walls, fabric, wood, stone, and ceramics. With stenciling you can create beautiful rooms complementing fabrics used on draperies, coverlets and furniture. A floorcloth made out of canvas with stenciled designs can cover that bare floor making it the perfect decorative touch. Stenciled clothes can be the envy of your friends - a tee shirt with flowers, butterflies, or a nautical theme such as a sailboat, fish, or lighthouse. Even lampshades can be stenciled to bring an added touch of color to your décor. As the old saying goes,"Stencil anything that isn't moving!" For more information on the "how-tos" of stenciling please go to Stenciling Instructions.
