Make good use of an old pallet by turning it into a decorative piece of wall art with Designer Stencils Boho Medallion Wall Painting Stencil. This project is perfect for any piece of reclaimed wood large enough for this 13.8" bohemian mandala.
For this project you will need the following tools:
Boho Medallion Wall Painting Stencil
Repositionable Spray Adhesive
Frog Tape Painter's Tape
Americana Acrylic Paint
Stencil Brush Long Handle
Start by sanding the surface of your reclaimed wood with low grit sandpaper. Once the imperfections of the wood are sanded off, use a damp sponge to wipe off excess sawdust. Allow any dampness to dry.
Use Repositionable Spray Adhesive on the back of your stencil then give it 30 seconds to become tacky before pressing to your project surface. Place the untacky side of the stencil down at one side of the wood pallet. Take a piece of string or twine that is the exact length between the side of the stencil and the edge of the wood. Fold that length of twine in half and place the edge of the wood to center the stencil. Make sure the stencil is at the center by taking the folded piece of twine and placing it at the other side of the stencil. Flip the stencil onto the tacky side and press it to the center of your pallet.
Use Frog Tape Painter's Tape at the edges where the stencil design comes closest to the edge. Put some Americana Acrylic Paint White Wash onto a paper plate then begin swirling your stencil brush into the paint. After the bristles of the Stencil Brush Long Handle are coated, swirl the excess paint off onto a piece of paper towel until hardly any paint comes off. The Stencil Brush Long Handle should feel just about dry to the touch before stenciling.
Begin swirling paint through the stencil and building the color through 3-4 light coats of paint. After reaching full paint saturation, peel the stencil off the surface. Now let's stencil each corner of the wooden palette.
Line the edge of the central circle up with the corners or the wooden pallet. Swirl the paint in 3-4 coats through the stencil design until your color is saturated. Peel the stencil off and repeat in the three other corners.
Once you have repeated the stencil design in all 4 corners your wall art is complete! Mount it to your wall by attaching frame wire to the the back of the wooden pallet, or try leaning it against the wall in an empty corner. This stencil looks great on any surface and is a great compliment for any surface.
